Municipalities of Panukulan & Burdeos

Throughout the years, the ISO has been assisting in the strengthening of the Integrated Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (IFARMC) of the Northern Lamon Bay, and the Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Councils (MFARMCs) and a number of fisherfolk organizations in selected municipalities in the Quezon Province. The ISO helped the MFARMCs in operationalizing four out of eight committees, namely: Law Enforcement, Rehabilitation and Conservation, Livelihood Development, and Legislative & Prosecution. Furthermore, the ISO has been capacitating selected fishing and farming communities in Quezon to reduce their vulnerabilities to climate change and disasters.  In the recent years, the ISO has chosen to focus on the municipalities of Burdeos and Panukulan. Mangrove conservation efforts and trainings for the development of environment-friendly and sustainable livelihoods, particularly for aquasilviculture and mudcrab culture, are being conducted. Activities for organizational development of fisherfolk organizations are also ongoing. As of 2015, they have reforested around 180 hectares of mangrove areas in Panukulan and 20 hectares in Burdeos.
